  I'm no longer the only beauty-product tester in my housemy husband, by virtue of living for years with a beauty editor, has become a discerning tester. Most guys, when asked what they think about a face scrub or shampoo, might grunt "fine" or "too girly." Not Grady, who works at GQ. He differentiates between the harshness and softness of exfoliating beads, comments on whether a scent is too flowery or not quite woodsy enough, complains about a good product's bad bottle designand thinks up new uses for things. He's now doing a series of product reviewsfrom the male perspective, of courseon gq.com.
  
  Grady recently talked about how much better Clean & Clear Oil-Absorbing Sheets are at blotting forehead shine than a paper towel from the office kitchenette. I couldn't agree morethese little rubberized sheets are a favorite of the Allure staff, too.
  
  For me, keeping my skin looking grease-freebut not like an overly powdered white maskis all about the right loose powder. Every morning, I buff in Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder with a fluffy powder brush; I swirl the brush in circles at the sides of my nose and on my forehead to really cover the area well. Beauty Review: BGP Tries Avons Healthy Makeup

  Beauty Guinea Pig back and ready for duty! For the past few weeks, I have been testing out Avons new Healthy Makeup line and I honestly couldnt wait to share it with you any longer.
  I took the Avon makeup line to a wedding for the ultimate test of giving me the perfect look for the event.
  My makeup journey beginswith the choice of two different foundations: a liquid and a mousse. I found the liquid foundation worked fine, but I definitely preferred the mousse. The liquid foundation felt heavy whereas the mousse foundation was lighter on my face and went on smoothly. It made my skin feel soft all night. It didnt wear off through the rain and heat of dancing up a storm all night long.
  Next was the Healthy Makeup Lipsticks. I loved the line of lipstick right away for their sheer colours. There are so manyshades to choose from. Itried on every one. The shades go from barely there shimmer to bold colour. Since I was wearing a neutral dress, I went for the bright Apricot lipstick that made my lipspop. Unfortunately the lipstick didnt seem to have the same durable staying power as the foundation. I found myself reapplying every time I went to the bathroom. The colour looked great, but if you are buying keep it handy.
  Finally I was on to eye shadow. I have a serious bias against cream eyeshadow. It never seems to stay on. Since I knew I was going to be shedding a tear or two during speeches, I was hesitant about using it. I braved throughand chose the light pink Rose Satin eyeshadow that would give me a bit of colour, but not overpower my lipstick. Applying the eyeshadow for an even colour off of the stick is a little awkward. To get the perfect look you will need to use your finger or an applicator to smooth it out without removing it. I didnt notice my shadow that night, but looking back at pictures I was surprised to see even at the end of the night, my pretty pink eyes are the thing that stands out most. Most of the other shades in the line are too light for me and just give a shine without colour, but they are reliable.
  Some people dont think of Avon makeup as top notch, but this Healthy Makeup line outworked some of the more expensive products in my makeup bag.

We went straight to the sourcethe makeup artists responsible for making every inch of their skin look amazingfor our new story and check out Shiny, Happy People (on page 92 of the July issue). If you're lucky enough to be Beyonc, that sheen is courtesy of a head-to-to rubdown with La Mer The Body Crme layered with L'Oral Paris Glam Bronze Powder, says makeup artist Francesca Tolot. Other stars' secrets:
  
  Exfoliate with a sugar scrub. Makeup artists recommend these because they're extra gentle on skin. Jennifer Lopez, for one, "is obsessed" Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish, according to her makeup artist, Scott Barnes
  
  Go for a rich body cream. These make skin extra soft and shiny, says makeup artist Mally Roncal. She likes Fekkai Crme Luxueuse Shea Butter Body. "You want something thick and yummy; if you turn the jar upside down, it shouldn't budge," she says.
  
  Lube Up. Body oil adds a nice sheen but can be really messy. Makeup artist Troy Surratt recommends adding a few drops of oil to bathwater and soaking in it, or slathering on an oil-infused body balm instead. "My favorite product for dewy-looking skin is Benefit's Bathinait doesn't transfer to clothes," Surratt says.

"I have one celebrity client who likes highlighter on the tops of her feet when she's wearing sandals," says makeup artist Jillian Dempsey.
