Now, after 12 long years, Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman, artist and writer of "Zits", have decided to let Jeremy turn 16. They can now write about many new adventures, beginning with Jeremy taking his road test.
Zits Comic Strip: After 12 years, Jeremy Turns 16

An animated short I produced and directed for Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman's syndicated comic strip "Zits" as a test. It's been released on YouTube as an ad for their latest book.

Twitter gets mentioned in the Comic Strip known as Zits today. There's no point to explain how it gets mentioned, you just need to SEE IT!!! Personally I love this comic because the main character is named Jeremy... But this is just PRICELESS! washingtonpost.com - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/artsandliving/comics/king.html?name=Zits

I am Jeremy and I am, unfortunately, 15 years old. A high school freshman with, thank God, four good friends but other than that a seriously boring life in a seriously boring town made livable only by the knowledge that someday in the far-off future at least this will all be over and I'll turn 16 and get a driver's license, which I so richly deserve, and then life will finally be good. Which it isn't now, although it isn't completely bad since I've got best friends (Hector and Pierce) that I can totally trust (seriously), Sara, a girlfriend (sort of) that loves me (sort of), a band that's beginning to come together, no joke, and sounds fairly okay but would sound even better if everybody would just show up for practice for once on the same day at the same time, which, by the way has only happened once. Oh, and my parents are seriously ruining my life. This Zits treasury combines strips from Thrashed and Pimp My Lunch. That means fans can once again enjoy such Zits classic moments as the joys of instant messaging, the proper way to apply deodorant, how to put on an attitude, and much, much more. This is Zits at its best.

Jeremy and Mom: A Zits Retrospective You Should Definitely Buy for Your Mom (Zits Treasury)
Book (Andrews McMeel Publishing)

Jeremy's Mom should be up for sainthood. A lot of these comics remind me of my mom and brother. 5/5 I. Lewis - See all my reviews, April 21, 2008Interesting - but actually a collection of previous works

Jeremy and dad - a review
This was very similar to Jeremy and Mom, so if you purchased that one, then you will like this one, too. This is just a collection of strips including how Jeremy and Dad -relationship and characters have developed and how the writers have got the ideas for the characters, their clothing, the typical topics and problems with teenager and his father. It is still a hilarious collection to read even if I had read the same ones before. The notes made by the authors also reveal the ideas behind the cartoons and characters and it is interesting to see how much the characters relate to the real world and issues.Part of me was confused when the authors describe that the parents background is based on 1960s (like it is in the cartoon) with all the old fashioned clothes and memories of roadtrips in 1960s... but then Jeremy is teenager now with ipods... So the age difference of a parent who had lived their young adult life in 1960s and todays's teenagers, is huge! There have been and continue to be several comic strips that focus on the relationship between teenagers and their families. There have also been several comic strips that featured a teenager as one of several characters in the strip. However, Jerry Scott & Jim Borgman's "Zits" is the only current comic strip I know of that focuses on a teenage boy and the relationship between he and his parents. Though it has been marketed as a treasury, JEREMY & DAD isn't really a treasury. It's more of a themed collection featuring strips from the past few years revolving around Jeremy and his dad, Walt. Fans of the strip probably already own most of these strips in collection books. This is a book for people that aren't already familiar with "Zits". It also makes a nice gift to give to a father for a Christmas gift, birthday present, or Father's Day treasure. 3/5 tvtv3 "tvtv3" (Sorento, IL United States) - See all my reviews, November 4, 2010People who buy Zits treasuries

'Growth Spurt: Zits Sketchbook 2
Book (Andrews McMeel Publishing)
List Price: $10.99
Second ZITS book tops the first!
Just received Sketchbook 2 which is even more fun than the ZITS #1. Borgman and Scott are rounding out the family now, and dad is getting a bit more savvy, but mom is really coming out of her shell. I love the way she relates to Jeremy --- as though she can still remember how it was to be a teenager. Our local newspaper STILL hasn't picked up on running this excellent strip so let me know when Sketchbook 3 comes out. 5/5 WFK "alt historian" (Wolfsberg, Austria) - See all my reviews This review is from: 'Growth Spurt: Zits Sketchbook 2 (Paperback) Two reasons why I appreciate this strip so much: a) I vaguely remember being Jeremy's age and b) I have a son. Now he's in the Baby Blues age - one reason why I don't find that strip so funny - but I can sympathise with all the strip's characters. So I get amused, inspired and also touched. The stories are very human, they don't degrade any of the generations, they are well drawn. Book 2 is in every way as good as book 1. I hope it continues that way. A comic strip that's great fun. I haven't laughed this much to a comic strip since Calvin and Hobbes ended. I highly reccomend this to any humor fan (or anyone growing up with teens or is a teen). 5/5 0, October 26, 1999A great strip, a great book!

As other people have mentioned, Zits feels like what we'd expect Calvin and Hobbes to be like if it had "grown up". I wasn't sure about the strip when it debuted, but it's really come into its own as the artists have refined the characters. Jeremy is a "typical" teenager, with the usual problems - dating, school, trying to start a band. Fairly stock stuff, but the characterizations are perfect - from his parents, who are somewhat at a loss as to how to raise him, to his best friend Hector, who tolerates him even though he's a dufus sometimes. Everyone is realistic (for a strip), no charicatures. His parents aren't oblivious (when he takes to calling his dad "walt" in more recent strips, his dad argues it, then pulls out a nickname from when Jeremy was a baby, and it stops right there). His friends let him know when he's being a jerk... It's all the funniest things about being a teenager, and pulled off wonderfully. 5/5 Brian A. Dunkle "Just a guy" (Tucson, AZ USA) - See all my reviews, October 16, 2000Keep it up, Jerry and Jim!
What a fantastic collaboration between writer and artist such as exists with Scott & Borgman. The odd-ball expressions Borgman puts on Jeremy's face are priceless but the real star is Mom, sharp tongued, to the point, and yet so gullible. Thanks for lots of laughs, guys! 5/5 0, October 16, 2000 -

Zits Unzipped: Sketchbook #5 (Zits Sketchbook)

Zits a-poppin'!
Bad haircuts, "clueless" parents, pimples, hormones, loyal and/or ditsy friends, the girl's posse, dreams of the uncharted future, weird friends, untamed appetites and endless insecurities-- ZITS is a hilarious commentary on the foibles of being a teenager in middle America. In this compendium of strips, Jeremy deals with having to get girlfriend Sara a Christmas gift (he gets her a tire); body-pierced Pierce the drummer makes his first appearance; Jeremy, on a rare free weekend with his parents at an orthodontists conference, spends the weekend in the company of an armload of horror videos *and* his overactive imagination; and then there's Ms Butcher, the Econ teacher who truly does stay up at night looking for ways to torment him.ZITS is constantly fresh, drawn with humorous and deft exaggeration - the cover illustration showing a mountain of CDs, headphones, calculators and tapes spewing out of Jeremy's backpack should ring a familiar bell with any parent of... 5/5 Jean E. Humongous Zits is a compilation of the first two books of this comic strip. It starts out a little slow while the main characters are being introduced, but it soon catches its stride.Jeremy Duncan is a typical teenager just trying to live his life. His parents are on his back, he's got homework to avoid, his garage band isn't getting recording contracts, and he's awkward around the girl of his dreams. Needless to say, his life is anything but boring. The strip is written from Jeremy's point of view, which leads to some great sight gags as we see a situation through his eyes. The characters are slightly cartoonish but real enough for many years of great strips, and I look forward to enjoying it for years to come. 4/5 Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States) - See all my reviews, October 4, 2001TO THE ZITS FOLLOWER THIS BOOK WILL BE A DISAPPOINTMENT
This books contains NO NEW CARTOONS, and the Zits follower could feel cheated, but to NEW Zits FAN, it's a GREAT BUY, a two in one special. So, to the followers - if you have previous books don't purchase this book, unless your're buying it for a friend 2/5 0, April 14, 2000 -

Book (Andrews McMeel Publishing)
List Price: $9.99
Big disappointment
I was expecting a much bigger book with pages of commentary about the teen years, having just gone through those years in my own home. "you've got to read Zits" was a common phrase during that time. I have purchased all of the Zits books (expensive when shipped to Australia) and I have been disappointed that two of the books contain cartoons repeated from the other books. Be aware that this book contains cartoons from "don't roll your eyes at me" and "are we an us". It would be nice for Amazon to tell us this before we buy.I have a seventeen year old son and I think the "Zits" books have bought us closer together because they place contentious areas into the open in an atmosphere of great humour. 5/5 Peter Liston (SOUTHBANK, VIC Australia) - See all my reviews This review is from: Big Honkin' Zits: A Zits Treasury (Paperback) I have purchased all of the Zits books (expensive when shipped to Australia) and I have been disappointed that two of the books contain cartoons repeated from the other books. Jeremy returns in his second treasury, combining strips from the books "Don't Roll Your Eyes at Me, Young Man!" and "Are We an Us?" Not much has changed since the first treasury. He still wishes his parents would get off his back, he still doesn't understand women, and he still dreams of making it big in music. But whether he's trying to decide what to do about the upcoming Gingivitis concert, win back Sara from a sophomore, support a friend's mom who has cancer, or sneak over to his girlfriend's babysitting job, he's sure to find the humor in any situation.Unfortunately, I don't get the strip in my local paper, so I have to wait for these books to enjoy it. But I can certainly see why it has become such a popular strip. Everyone can appreciate the humor in the storylines, which poke fun at everyone equally. The visual gages are some of the best in the papers today and make for some of the best strips in the book as well. And it's easy to like these characters because they... 5/5 Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States) - See all my reviews, April 5, 2002Heehehhahahahahheeheeheehhe, yukyukyuk!
I evaluate funnies by the drawings, and, of course, is it funny or not? With that said, here we go.In some ways, I think this comic is influenced by Calvin and Hobbes, one of the most memorable and classic strips. This comic strip is drowned in sarcasm and irony. The drawings have a sort of sketchy quality about them, something that makes them loose and very cool-looking. They have shading and scribbly detail, but are still very clear and easy to understand. It has more than 4 characters, allowing the cartoonist to come up with many interesting character traits. Exploring these personalities is very fun to read. A boy and a girl never seen not hugging each other, a mom, a dad, a big brother, and a boy with a guitar are just some of the characters. I think this strip has about the right amount of characters. This book is my first encounter with the comic and it is very appealing. I won't tell you to buy it, because I'm not a salesperson. I'm merely telling you why I like it. 5/5 "barracudaman232" (St.Paul, MN, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Big Honkin' Zits: A Zits Treasury (Paperback) I evaluate funnies by the drawings, and, of course, is it funny or not? Zits: Sketchbook 1
Book (Andrews McMeel Publishing)
List Price: $12.99
The Teen Years
When a strip has a name as tasteful and enlightening as "Zits," you know it'll be a winner. And the third "Sketchbook" just came out!The absence of "Calvin and Hobbes" left a hole in the witty humor department for a very long time (the WP newspaper has replaced it with the abysmal "Boondocks") but Zits has an almost eerie similarity to it in structure--as well as the fact that Jeremy has a remarkable resemblance to a six-foot-tall Calvin. It's "Calvin: The Teen Years."Jeremy Duncan is a fifteen-year-old boy who lives in an average home in the suburbs. He tolerates his out-of-it-but-smart parents Walt and Connie, secretly longs for the unattainable Sarah (think of Susie at fifteen), and hangs out with best friend Hector (Hobbes has morphed into a Hispanic high-schooler with more wisdom than Jeremy can ever have).Jeremy is such an "ordinary" teenager that it's astounding. He longs to be dangerous and edgy, but only... 5/5 E. A Solinas "ea_solinas" (MD USA) - See all my reviews, September 23, 2000Every Strip Can Relate
This book is full of strips that can relate to almost every teenagers life. Everything from having a girlfriend to the actions made towards the parents by Jeremy(the teenager), and the actions of the parents towards him. After reading this book I found that almost every strip related to me. It's good reading for all ages (if you can read), so I recommend that you check this book out. You won't regret buying it. 5/5 TR Herlihy - See all my reviews This review is from: Zits: Sketchbook 1 (Paperback) This book is full of strips that can relate to almost every teenagers life. Today, the cartoon characters are so often grotesque and dysfunctional. Not so in Zits! For the majority of us THIS is a refreshing, good old peek at humor with class, talent, and superb art. The reader can identify with Jeremy, his friends, his experiences, and the parents' perspective. It is a magical combination of first rate profound humor that we can all relate to with clearly unparalleled artistic expression. 5/5 dsford@twocrowcartoons.com (Petersburg, Alaska) - See all my reviews This review is from: Zits: Sketchbook 1 (Paperback) Today, the cartoon characters are so often grotesque and dysfunctional.
