Digg Responds to User Outrage: Upcoming Stories Will Return

Digg has had one heck of a week. On Wednesday the social news aggregator decided it was a good time to make the switch to version 4 of it's platform, which sent servers crashing and drove users bonkers. That was followed with overwhelming outrage over the buggy and feature-stripped new site, and today loyal Digg users spammed the site pleading for founder Kevin Rose to "do the right thing." This afternoon, Rose responded to the Digg community on his personal blog, announcing the return of features like "Upcoming Stores."

What's Changing?

The Upcoming section, as we noted yesterday, is where many of Digg's most loyal users spent time attempting to influence which stories would make the front page. Many complaints focused around the removal of this section, which Rose says accounts for less than half of a percent of site traffic. " I definitely see the fun behind wanting to see stories just before they jump, so we'll add a view of upcoming popular stories soon," he says.

Another change that angered many users was that the site defaulted to the new "My News" section, which is populated with stories submitted, commented on and dugg by a user's friends and contacts. This caused many long-time Digg users to accuse the site of "becoming too much like Facebook and Twitter." Rose says the default homepage will soon become toggleable between My News and Top News, stating simply, "Makes sense, we'll add this setting."

The social My News section has been the focus of the relaunch and Rose is probably disappointed Digg users weren't more accepting of the feature. While it certainly, "makes sense" to make the default homepage an interchangeable setting, it wasn't what the site wanted, or it would have included it from the start.

What's NOT Changing

There are a few areas where Rose is refusing to bow to pressure from the site's users. Many were disappointed that the ability to "bury" stories was removed in the latest version, and argue it eliminates their ability to keep bad stories from the front pages of the site. Rose argues that "by removing the bury button we have put a stop to the bury brigades," and notes that users can report malicious content by clicking a "hide" button near each story.

Another change that has irked many users are the up- and down-voting buttons on comments, which were changed to arrows from their previous thumb versions. It's a minor change, but it means a lot in the Digg community, especially when arrows are used on many other sites, including the Reddit community.

Rose seemingly brushed this issue away, making a reference to the popular Old Spice advertisements. "Look at v3, now back again, the arrows are now diamonds!" Nope, they're still arrows. Personally I could care less if they're arrows or thumbs, but the community at large seems to care a great deal, so it seems like a no-brainer.

Is It Enough?

There are still many lingering concerns for fans of Digg. While many contend that the new Digg plays into the hands of popular mainstream media outlets (the same outlets Digg was originally designed to circumvent), Rose says that all diggers are created equal.

But will these changes be enough to appease the Digg community. Early responses have been mixed, with a leaning toward positive, but time will tell whether the users choose to meet Rose in the middle. I found out about this tool at a salon when I went for a facial cleaning and the skin care technician used it on me; at first I didn't see what it was, but she kept on saying that "a lot" was coming out. Lots & lots of stuff comes out! But you SHOULDN'T use it if your skin hasn't been washed and pores opened. It's best to do it right after a good shower (I usually wash my face in the shower). Does it hurt? Of course it hurts a little, but it also hurt at the salon, and we don't complaint when a professional is doing it. well made but too thick for me
i bought this and a lancet also from suvorna together, which makes less scarring because the lancet pokes a small hole for the acne to come out.i used to have a lancet plus remover that i've been using like forever, but it was my mom's, so when i went study abroad i know i need to get my own. the one that i had has a thin wire loop as a remover, and i think this might have affected my opinions on the suvorna remover, just kept that in mind for now.because of all the good comments i saw so i decided to give it a try. i looked online on guides on using the suvorna specifically but the suvorna website is not up yet. i also read some websites on how a flat remover can provide more even forces on the surrounding skin of the acne which can cause less scarring, hence i was really excited to try the suvorna acne remover.however when i try to use it on my acne, it's just too thick, even after i poke a little hole with my lancet. i tried to use the flat side... 3/5 Janis Lai "j" (Boston, USA / Hong Kong) - See all my reviews, August 13, 2010

Best Over the Counter Acne Product Money Can Buy
I've tried many over the counter and prescription acne products, and this one is definitely most effective for me. It is a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution which is actually more effective than the 10% solutions and is far less irritating. It's name is "On-the-Spot," but my dermatologist instructed me to use is all over as a preventative measure, as it is relatively gentle compared to some other treatments. Just use a moisturizer with sunscreen after applying it. As with ALL benzoyl peroxide treatments, there is a risk of bleaching to clothing. I've noticed that it really only bleaches lighter colors, such as pastels and some grays, but I've never had it bleach anything with bold colors such as black, navy, gold, etc. 5/5 0, January 19, 2009

Like many people, I have had trouble with clear skin in the past. Since I've become sick, my skin was producing more oil, and it was driving me MAD! LOL I had been using Clearasil, and I couldn't afford Proactive. Clearasil was leaving my skin VERY dry, especially when I started needing to use the pads a few times a day. If I feel my face is oily, and I leave it, I'm just asking for pimples. So that means cleaning my skin more often. I made a decision to go ahead and just try the Stridex for a little while. I felt the difference, the fresh, clean feeling, RIGHT away. Within a few days, my skin was clear, and not only that, but my skin wasn't dry and tight, like the Clearasil tended to do. Don't get me wrong, Clearasil worked too, it was just VERY astringent, and dried out my skin quickly. This stuff is so good that even if I'm feel awful and skip a cleaning, another outbreak doesn't happen right away. I'm so glad I found this stuff. I use Differin, which can make my skin more sensitive to harsh products, but this stuff doesnt bother my skin at all. I'm so glad Stridex took out the irritating ingredients like alcohol that can dry your skin and make breakouts worse.I use this to keep blackheads on my nose under control. What I really like is that it is a liquid so it doesnt feel heavy or greasy on your skin. A Powerful Medicate Pad That Gives "Maximum" Effort...
I've used various brands of medicated pads for years. I tend to stick with Stridex or Oxy (depends on what's on sale really) but I always got the best results from Stridex. Stridex makes a few varieties of pads but I usually pick up the Sensitive Skin or Maximum Strength varieties with either giving very good results. Below is a review for the Stridex: MAXIMUM pads; a great choice if you want maximum effort in combating oil, dirt and breakouts.I actually have sensitive skin but find the Maximum pads give better results (probably due to 1.5% more salicylic acid). It is because of these better results I always keep a box on hand with my Sensitive skin variety. What I like about Maximum strength is that you can feel the pad working. Not only does it clean your skin of oil and dirt, but after use you can feel the medicated pad continue to work. Great Moisturizer with non-chemical SPF
I have been looking for a non-chemical SPF combined with face moisturizer for a long time. I live in sunny southern California. This product is great for those with sensitive skin or those allergic to chemical based sunscreens. Most companies only have face moisturizer w/ SPF that contains chemical suncreen but I am allergic to those chemical ingredients which causes me to have a face rash. The Kimberly Sayer moisturizer plus SPF is a great find. It doesn't contain any chemical suncreen ingredients, only physical blockers and I don't need to put on separate moisturizer. I've been using it every day since I got it. My skin is naturally oily and it has not caused any pimples and it keeps my skin feeling less oily. Best cream with SPF around
I bought this after seeing it recommended in a magazine. I live in sunny California, have very light skin, and work outside so I need a high SPF cream to use everyday. I was drawn to this because it uses organic ingredients, has no parabens and uses titanium and zinc oxide for the sunblock protection. I'm also acne prone. My husband and I use this every morning and a bottle lasts us @ 4 months. It doesn't cause any breakouts and absorbs quickly so I can apply makeup soon afterward. Very moisturizing!
I've gone through a million moisturizers, but could never find one moisturizing enough for my dry skin. Not only is this incredibly moisturizing, it's doesn't make my face feel greasy, its got SPF 25, it's good for acne-prone skin, and you only need a couple drops at a time, so it lasts a good 6 months! 5/5 J. Great Product - worth the money !!
My daughter has had moderate/severe acne for the last few years - and we have been to the dermatologist seems every few months trying new creams (and yes, even tried Proactive with absolutely NO results). The last visit they wanted to put her on pills, but then I saw an ad on Amazon for this product and wanted to try it out before going that route. This thing is fantastic! The acne does clear up fast - sometimes one day sometimes two days, but it does work. Using this along with her prescription cream, her face has cleared up dramatically. Common Sense
Judging from the reviews, I see that people don't realize just how different people's skin can be. Like any skin product, this can be hit or miss. In my personal experience, this product is absolutely wonderful. In my best friend's personal experience, this product did NOTHING to help her deplorable skin situation. My advise is to go to a dermatologist's office, make an appointment to the aesthetician, and have her do Zeno tests on you skin. That way, you can determine how well your skin will react to the product. Be informed consumers! Don't buy this unless you have previewed it and are certain it will work for you. I was skeptical but it worked for me!
I have cystic acne and have done Accutane three times (yes, 3 times) as an adult to get rid of it. Accutane helped but I still get about 1 cyst a month. I'd read that Zeno did not work on cystic acne but decided to give it a try (but kept the receipt, in case it did not work). After 3 months, I have been very impressed with the results. I've used it three times where I could feel an acne cyst beginning (where I have a small painful lump under the skin). I used it morning and evening for three days and the cyst never emerged.
